Yesterday a rumor surfaced, stating that Microsoft was in talks with Konami over the acquisition of the Silent Hill franchise for “billions of dollars”. The rumor also claimed that the game was 80% complete and would be revealed at E3 as an Xbox One exclusive with a March 2016 release date.
If that sounds somewhat ridiculous and false to you, that’s because it is. Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s Xbox division and Microsoft Studios, went ahead and shot the rumor down on twitter, claiming he didn’t want fans to be mislead.
@GoReds42093 @Xbox Sorry, this isn't true. Not sure where the rumor started but I don't want to mislead anyone.

There you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth. Which means the future of the Silent Hill franchise is still unknown.
