Cancelled Retro Game Finally To See Release On Steam Next Month

You may recall our Review of a title called Chuck’s Challenge 3D published by Nkidu Games, but what you might not know is that the title is based on a series from back in the day called Chip’s Challenge. Chip’s Challenge 1 was created in 10 weeks by a one man development team, and after that it received a huge fan-base who were giving outcry for a sequel.

When that sequel was developed though, it became apparent to the developer upon completion of the game that trademark rights were now in the hands of new owners who had no interest in funding the actual publishing of the sequel. The developer has never been able to release Chip’s Challenge 2 because of that… until now!

Thanks to Nkidu Games, countless years of negotiation with all parties involved, and the persistence of fans wanting to play the game – Chip’s Challenge 2 will now see a full fledged release on Steam in addition to the re-release of the retro classic title Chip’s Challenge 1. The release date is set for May 29, 2015 with an Editor available for the sequel as well at an additional DLC cost of just $2.99 with the original Chip’s Challenge 1 running for $1.99 and Chip’s Challenge 2 costing $4.99 with unreleased levels, Steam Workshop support, Steam Trading Cards, and more.

Excerpt from the Official Press Release:

“When I couldn’t release Chip’s Challenge 2, it hit me really hard. Not only had I spent two years perfecting it, I also felt I’d let down the fans too.” Chuck Sommerville [Creator of Chip’s Challenge 2] said. “I generally thought the only way Chip’s Challenge 2 was ever going to see the light of day was by having my wife leak it on the internet on my death.”
