Lionsgate is Working on a Borderlands Movie

A movie based on the popular video game series, is in the works. Variety broke the news this morning, confirming Avi and Ari Arad as the film’s producers.

“Part of our strategy in entering the game space under Peter Levin has been to source new brands with built-in audiences that will translate into great films and television shows,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger. “The ‘Borderlands’ games don’t pull any punches, and we’ll make the movie with the same in-your-face attitude that has made the series a blockbuster mega-franchise.”

No details on who will direct or a release window have been revealed at this time. Take-Two’s Interactive Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick had this to say in regards to this announcement.

“Lionsgate has emerged as a major creative force in the global marketplace with an incredible portfolio of brands; our partners at Gearbox have pioneered and cultivated an iconic property; and Avi and Ari Arad are two of the most successful producers of action franchises. This alliance is ideally positioned to create a bold, provocative, no-holds-barred motion picture phenomenon that will delight ‘Borderlands” current legions of fans and captivate moviegoers around the world.”

The first Borderlands game launched in 2009 to critical acclaim. Its sequel Borderlands 2, in 2012 received similar praise. Personally both games couldn’t hold my interest for long (Playing solo), though they were quite funny. Hopefully the movie can deliver on the laughs.

WWE 2K16’s Roster of Over 120 Characters Will Ship on Disc

When the first six superstars/diva were announced for the WWE 2K16 roster, the game’s developer promised it would have the “largest roster ever” in a WWE videogame. Not everyone was buying into the tagline, so the devs took to instagram to offer some clarification, stating the 120+ playable Superstars and Divas will all have unique models.

“For anyone doubting the ”largest roster ever” tag line for WWE 2k16, let us assure you, that we are bringing over 120 unique playable Superstars and Divas to the game. Now when we say unique, we’re not counting the repeats like 5 John Cena models, or 8 Mark Henry models. As you can imagine, these models are keeping us crazy busy, but it is worth it. #wwe2k16largestrostereve”

Due to the practice of releasing playable characters post launch as DLC, it is no surprise that some would assume the 120+ player count also includes whatever downloadable characters they may release. A tweet was sent out from the devs’ official twitter account to put an end to those assumptions. The 120+ unique models are on the disc and will ship with the game.

This is great news for those who were worried, that they may only end up with half that number come launch day.

Here’s When You Can Expect Evolve’s Next Four Hunters and Monster to Join the Fight

2K has revealed when players can download the next batch of hunters and the monster, for their 4v1 first-person shooter. On March 31, Evolve’s next four hunters will be able for all platforms. Players will also be able to download the next monster, the Behemoth on the same day. The Behemoth will cost $15 for those who didn’t pre-order the game, while those who did will get him for free. The four hunters; Torvald (Assault), Crow (Trapper), Slim (Medic) and Sunny (Support) are included in the game’s season pass for $24.99.

You can check out the hunters below, along with what they bring to the battlefield and some tips from Turtle Rock Studios’ Jess Damerst.

TORVALD (Assault)

“I HAVE CROSSED THE DEPTHS OF SPACE TO FIND YOU, BEAST! I AM YOUR DEATH!” – TORVALD

  •  Cybernetic implants
  • Back-mounted Mortar Cannons
  • Shrapnel Grenade for exposing weak spots on the Monster
  • Autofire Shotgun

TRS Tip: Torvald’s Mortar is obviously great for splash damage at a distance, but you can also aim straight up for a close-range drop. Combine that with the Shrapnel Grenade to bring the Monster a world of pain.

Crow (Trapper)

“THESE THINGS ARE TOUGH….WONDER HOW THEY TASTE.” –CROW

  • Pet Batray named Gobi, who flies ahead on command to scout for the monster’s location
  • Stasis Gun with two firing modes: A rapid-fire mode for briefly slowing down the Monster, or a charged shot for a longer effect
  • His Kinetic Long Rifle deals a lot of damage-per-second with its rapid-fire mode, while a charged shot will penetrate a Monster’s armor and damage its health.

TRS Tip: Send Gobi out often. He should be looking for the Monster even when you’re in a dome to keep tabs on it. Also, try to stick with the charged shot with the Stasis Gun – it will slow the monster longer, as opposed to short-burst shots.

Slim (Medic)

“YOU GOT TOO MUCH HEALTH, GOLIATH! GIMME SOME!” – SLIM

  • His Leech Gun saps the Monster’s strength and dictates how quickly his healing burst recharges
  • Healing Burst has the largest radius among all medics
  • Slim’s Healing Drone flies around have aids his teammates by regenerating their health
  • His Spore Cloud Launcher masks the Hunters scent, making the Monster’s ability to smell their location useless

TRS Tip: Fire the Leech Gun often – even if you don’t think you’re hitting anything. The Leech gun is how Slim replenishes the Medic Heal Burst ability. The more shots you take at the wildlife (and the Monster), the faster it recharges!

Sunny (Support)

“YAY! WE DID IT! WHY DIDN’T ANYONE BELIEVE ME? YOU GUYS ARE SUCH DOWNERS.” – SUNNY

  • Her Shield Drones will provide cover for nearby teammates
  • The Jetpack Booster allows her teammates to fly farther and faster. As long as they are within range, their jetpacks won’t run out of fuel
  • Sunny’s Mininuke Grenade Launcher does more damage than any other hand-wielded weapon in the game with a single projectile

TRS Tip: Jetpack Boost teammates that are being attacked so they can dodge out of the way as much as possible. Also, if you’re hot on the trail of the Monster, Jetpack Boost your Trapper so that they can keep pace and drop a dome on it.

Karma’s a B*tch; Evolve’s Wraith Glitches Out

Ask anyone who has encountered the wraith in Evolve and they’ll confirm; she is overpowered as hell. Despite having the least armor and health out of the three monsters, her unique abilities and speed make her a formidable foe. Too formidable in fact. When the monster that is supposed to be the toughest to play as, ends up with a high win rate, you have a problem. When more and more players start using her to get easier wins, you have a bigger problem. It starts to hurt the overall experience and results in frustration.

Which is what this wraith player must have felt towards the end of our match. Despite giving my teammates and I a hard time, we eventually prevailed. Not because we outsmarted our opponent, or fought to the bitter end like true warriors. No, no, we won because the bastard got stuck. Check it out below.

Karma’s a bitch.

Gamescom 2014: Off-Screen Gameplay of WWE 2K15, Goldust Confirmed

WWE 2K15, the upcoming wrestling title from 2k and Yukes, is available for the fans to play at the 2014 Gamescom event. One lucky attendee recorded some footage and uploaded it for the rest to see. The off-screen gameplay features a match between superstars Randy Orton and Cesaro. Though the quality of the video is in 480p, you can clearly see the see the improvement in the game’s visuals compared to its predecessors’.

In case you can’t tell (For whatever odd reason that may be), below is a side by side comparison of Randy Orton making his way to the ring in wwe 2k15 and last year’s 2k14.

2k15 Orton on the left, 2k14 on the right

WWE 2K15’s twitter account tweeted out a new in game screenshot of Goldust, confirming the… strange superstar’s spot on the game’s roster.

You’ll never forget the name

CM Punk Will Return in WWE 2K15

Former WWE superstar and “the longest-reigning WWE Champion of the modern era” CM Punk will be featured in Yukes and 2K’s upcoming WWE 2K15, despite his abrupt departure earlier this year and current standing with the company. So fans worried of his exclusion from the newest wrestling title can rest easy. Punk along with three other popular superstars will star in the new 2K Showcase mode. This single-player story mode will focus and two of the biggest rivalries in WWE History; Triple H and Shawn Michaels from 2002 to 2004 and CM and John Cena from 2011 to 2013. The presentation of these rivalries will be in the style of mini-documentaries, featuring a combination of real-life footage from the feuds and commentary from the participants involved.

2k Showcase mode will consist of a total of 33 matches, allowing players to unlock additional content by completing historical match objectives of moments that actually happened in ring. If you are bummed that your favorite rivalries are not included, all is not lost as the Publisher plans on releasing more as post launch DLC. I hope we get a feud involving the Undertaker.

When asked how they were able to still feature CM Punk in WWE 2K15 despite his now estranged relationship with the company, WWE executive producer Mark Little had this to say.

“Each year we try and create the best WWE 2K roster possible and even though CM Punk is not currently appearing on WWE programming we’re really happy that we’re able to still provide for everybody this rivalry against John Cena and CM Punk as part of 2K15,” Little explained. “As much in the same way that Shawn [Michaels] currently isn’t active for the WWE either, but he’s still able to be part of WWE 2K15 because the WWE universe extends through all of the time and history of the company. One of the great things about being able to do the 2K Showcase and look backwards at some of these previous rivalries is to be able to share with the WWE universe all the people that might not be on current programming.”

CM Punk remains just as popular as ever regardless of his absence in the WWE and while it still seems like he is finished with the company, fans will still get to enjoy his matches in some form. They can also relive all of his battles in the WWE by signing up for the WWE Network for just, wait for it… $9.99.

Here’s Your First Look At Randy Orton in WWE 2K15 On PS4 and Xbox One

Just last week WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena tweeted a screenshot of him in Yukes and 2K’s upcoming wrestling title. To say the graphics were impressive is an understatement. Now two new equally awesome screens have surfaced of Cena’s longtime rival, WWE’s Apex Predator, Randy Orton.

The first screen is of a reverse shot of John Cena’s, with the two popular figures staring down each other. The second features the “viper” doing his signature pose.

Here’s Cena’s screen in case you missed it.

Orton being as arrogant as ever.

[Updated] Evolve Delayed Until Early Next Year

Update: 2K has provided a statement.

“As stated on the Take-Two Interactive earnings call, 2K and Turtle Rock Studios are extending the development  of Evolve by a few months to allow enough time to fully realize the vision for Evolve and meet our collective standards of creative excellence. We are encouraged by the press reaction and fan excitement coming out of a very successful E3, and we are now certain we are headed in the right direction with the game and we are confident in delivering a genre-defining product when Evolve launches on February 10, 2015.”

Worried about October, being a bit too crowded with video game releases? Well you can worry a bit less, unless you have been highly anticipating the release of Evolve from Turtle Rock Studios and 2K. The four vs one sci-fi first-person shooter from the creators of Left 4 Dead has been delayed, the Publisher announced.

Originally scheduled for an October 21st release, fans can now expect to get their hands on the game of February 10, 2015. Turtle Rock and 2K wants most likely wants more time to polish the game and deliver the best experience possible. Not to mention the title would be facing a lot of competition in the likes of Assassin’s Creed: Unity, The Evil Within and more, so maybe that had something to do with it as well.

October continues to become less and less crowded as the days roll on. Still too crowded though.

Stay tuned for more details. Evolve launches February 10th, 2015 for PS4, PC and Xbox One.

Here’s Your First Screenshot of WWE 2K15

Current WWE World Heavyweight Champion has revealed via twitter an in-game screenshot of him staring down long time rival Randy Orton upcoming WWE 2K15 video game.

Safe to say the visuals are a step up from last year’s title. It is also scary accurate, no doubt thanks in part to Visual Concepts’ involvement this time around. VC handles the motion capture tech used in the NBA 2K games.

Here’s an even better look below.

Here’s a side by side comparison showing just how big a difference it is from WWE 2K14.

[Update]Rumor: Is This WWE 2K15’s Full Roster?

Updated:

It seems that the list has been debunked by 2k sports themselves. Dualshockers reached out to them in an effort to learn of the list’s legitimacy.

“I can let you know that the list isn’t accurate and we’ll be announcing the roster on August 16.”

Dang… too bad.

Just last weeks it was announced that fans will see the reveal of WWE 2K15’s roster next month during Summerslam Weekend . Now it appears the full roster of wrestlers have been leaked online. According to The Better Gaming Bureau, someone who claims to have gotten their hands on Game Informer’s August magazine issue is the one responsible for the leak.

This seems like a Bolievable (WWE Fans get this) list as many of the names on here are without a doubt going to be in the game. Many are active WWE superstars (Bray Wyatt, Kofi Kingston), really popular part-timers (The Rock, Brock Lesnar) and retired Legends (Shawn Micheals, Yokozuna).

The inclusion of NXT superstars such as Tyler Breeze (Never heard of you), Sami Zayn (You either), makes it seem a little far fetched and more like a wishlist but with the growing popularity of WWE’s developmental program it does make sense to include the up and comers. Regardless, they’re just more poor souls who’ll be buried by The Undertaker this fall.

Here is this list below
