Though the public may have completely taken it too far… Adam Orth has learned a lot from the incident that occurred during his five minutes of Internet fame during which the game industry professional argued in support of a hypothetical “Always-Online DRM” policy for the Xbox ONE, which never ended up coming to exist in the final market product. Part of what he learned from this experience, in his own words paraphrased, is that every action has a consequence – and every human desires redemption for those actions which they have lived long enough to regret. That’s right, together with the development team Three One Zero, Adr1ft is literally created by the figurehead of the soon to emerge online toaster industry.
Don’t worry though, Adr1ft isn’t one of those preachy, menu-based experiences with tons of reading and little gameplay. Adr1ft instead takes these concepts on as metaphors to present through Space Simulation. 505 Games states that they are excited to take a chance with this title, as it is something new and different. Players are tasked with waking up in a half-destroyed space station, and with no memory or recollection of the events that led them there, must survive by scraping by and finding a way.
