Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Coming to PS3 and PS4 this Summer

Originally released for Xbox 360 and Xbox One earlier this year with a PC release next month, PvZ: Garden Warfare will soon be available on Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles on August 19th, 2014.

A spin-off of the Plants vs. Zombies series which are primarily tower defense games, Garden Warfare is a frantic and ridiculously fun third-person shooter that runs on EA’s popular Frostbite 3 engine. Players can choose to team up with 3 others and defend the garden against waves of zombies in the 4 player co-op mode Garden Ops or battle online competitively in the game’s addicting 24-player team-based multiplayer modes. The game features a plethora of unlockable content including new abilities, character classes, customization options and more.

For the past few days Popcap games had been teasing fans with images suggesting that popular shooter would in fact be making its way to Sony platforms. These images featured a Plants vs. Zombies take on popular PlayStation exclusive games such as Fat Princess, and the Rachet and Clank and Sly Cooper franchises.

Players will be able to play PvZ: GW for PS4 on the PS Vita via the popular Remote Play feature for some on the go action. Similar to the Xbox One’s version of the game, the PS4 version will also feature the exclusive Boss Mode. This mode allows players to provide air support on the battlefield, through the use of a flying drone which can call in airstrikes, heal teammates and more. Boss mode can only be played as a companion experience for mobile devices via the PlayStation App. PS4 owners will also have the option to play the game’s co-op mode via split-screen. Additionally Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will be playable at 60 frames per second and a native 1080p resolution.

The PS3 and PS4 versions will contain all of the current free DLC that has been released for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions. So players will not have to worry about downloading the Garden Variety Pack and the ZomBoss Down pack as everything will be on the disc. Any more DLC planned for release will most likely be free as well. EA allowed Bioware to release many free DLC packs for Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer and it seems this will be a running theme with Garden Warfare.

Our very own DJ Killzone Jones reviewed the Xbox One version rewarding it an 8/10 and calling it “a great 3rd person shooter that captures the essence of the original tower defense games but brings an entirely fresh and new experience.”

Having played the game on Xbox 360 extensively I can attest that statement despite missing out on the exclusive Boss mode and split-screen. So give it a read, if you are looking for new and fun multiplayer experience. Those who pre-order the game will receive exlcusive customization options inspired by the Sly Cooper, Rachet and Clank and Fat Princess games.

Hitman Absolution is Free with PlayStation Plus this Month + More

If you like killing people, stripping them of their clothes, then wearing them around like that dude who wore people’s faces in that one movie, seriously you have problems. But hey, we all like to get dirty here and there. I’m actually a fan of the Hitman series myself, hence my twitter name (Hitman0769). If you haven’t had a chance to check out the latest in the series yet, or have just been worried it will skew your view of the beloved assassination franchise now being published by Square Enix, you’ll get the chance to play Hitman Absolution free this month on PlayStation Plus.

Just about every single Rayman video game is on sale and you can even get a few indies cheap too. Other free games being offered for PS Plus members include Bit.Trip Runner 2, Zen Pinball 2, Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower (for PSP and Vita handhelds only), and Machinarium (for Vita only). The update goes live tomorrow at some point (when the notoriously random update team gets things sorted) on PlayStation Network for PS3, PS Vita, and PSP.

Going to Be At Quakecon 2013?

As some of you may know, ID ( and now / Bethesda) throw a giant LAN party every year for PC, and most importantly, Quake fans. If you plan to make the trip to The Hilton Anatole, Dallas Look for me and we will hang out, get drunk, and see if we can score with one of the hot Quakecon Girls.

How can you find me? I dunno. I guess look for a guy who looks like this when you’re there.

Totally kidding. I do not have a gold tooth. What do I look like? Some idiot?

Xbox is going to discontinue Microsoft Points (Rumor)

There will be a new dashboard update for Xbox Live that’s rumored to be discontinuing Microsoft Points as retail currency. The user interface will be refreshed with smaller Live Tiles, similar to what Microsoft is developing for Windows 8.1, Microsoft is also said to be changing the look of the Xbox dashboard, with the possibility of darker and lighter themes. The update will go into beta testing during June and July 2013, but won’t be available to the public until August. These are only rumors. But they seem to be legit.
