Microsoft Bringing Xbox Exclusive To Steam, Valve / MS Partnership Growing

The following Teaser Trailer was released by Lionhead Studios showing Fable Anniversary being played on PC with a Steam overlay, this confirms and preludes a forthcoming official announcement for the title which we will bring forth soon.

Lionhead Studios stated that they were “inundated” with requests for Steam to get a copy of the release which hit Xbox 360 months ago. Microsoft and Lionhead Studios are happy to announce, they’re making it happen.

For those wondering how this came about, and what this means – Valve and Microsoft are working closer together today than in the history of the game industry. Take a look at some of the assets for this upcoming game as well as the latest info on this industry partnership.

In recent years, Microsoft started bringing their video games to Valve’s massive digital distribution marketplace Steam, which has become the #1 largest and most trusted place to get games from on the computer. Despite the fact that MS had once attempted to launch their own hub called GFWL, Games For Windows LIVE, the company based out of Washington in the United States decided to make a very smart move and reach out to the audience of the PC Gaming community that had felt a disconnect and left them behind.

As Microsoft reached out to Steam, Steam reached back. Age of Empires is a game that was never quite reproduced in terms of brilliant fun for real-time strategy gamers who wanted to feel a unique experience of commanding human troops as they evolve throughout history from B.C. and beyond. Age of Empires II HD for Steam proved to be a much more appreciated and critically acclaimed release for the PC than previous MS attempts on the computer platform and marked the beginning of a new embrace from even figureheads behind corporate charge of the Xbox brands, MS inner-leadership circles, and more.

Today we have learned another game previously unavailable on the PC is heading to Steam. As rumored some time ago, Fable Anniversary with enhanced visuals among other improvements made upon the Xbox 360 version (and Xbox OG original title).

Microsoft Studios has said in public interviews recently that they really, really want to bring a whole new level of support to PC Gaming. The last time they said that though, we were hit with some less-than-expected installments which attempted to bring us titles probably spun out of a focus group or marketing cash-in idea (Age of Empires Online and Microsoft Flight for example) instead of what we really wanted.

This time though, Windows PC and Xbox ONE are really showing promise with titles like Project Spark, Halo: Spartan Assault and Titanfall. With Microsoft’s newly purchased Gears of War IP, fans can rightfully hope to see some type of PC installment perhaps not of the full game but of a spinoff instead (similar to what was done with Spartan Assault). This doesn’t mean it has to be top-down, isometric “twin-stick” shooting like Spartan Assault, but Microsoft Studios has said that they are looking to explore cross-platform opportunities for Xbox exclusive brands in this way. Considering they’ve bought the rights to Gears of War, the time seems right for such a cross-over to occur – and hopefully skeptics will be surprised with the final results of that.

Check out some videos below of the X360 version, and hang tight for MS to bless us with some actual PC footage.

There are some who say that the Xbox 360 version never really got a fair shot and suffers from issues running at 1080P HD on Unreal Engine 3 (which Windows PC machines easily outperform without stutters). Perhaps a Steam release will be what Lionhead Studios needs to show their true vision of the game with less bugs, since last-gen technology has simply passed its prime at this point when it comes to utilizing the latest and best development tools.

In any event, it is great to see a huge gaming company take an obvious admission of guilt for bringing about a service that nobody wanted (GFWL) and being very classy in their efforts to remove it from being a burden on gamers while fully embracing the possibilities of a competitor who has simply fed the market better.

Platform: Xbox 360, Steam (Coming Soon)

Developer / Publisher: Lionhead Studios / Microsoft Studios

Genre / Resolution: Action RPG / Above 1080P HD

Here is the Official Launch Trailer for the X360 version of the game, Stay Tuned for more videos / info on the PC release as it becomes available.

EA Sued By Investors In Class Action Lawsuit For False Advertising Battlefield 4, Financial Fraud, Stock Manipulation, Embezzlement

Over the past couple of weeks RealGamerNewz has been exhaustively reviewing legal documentation from the parties Robbins Geller as well as the original investigation that was brought forward by Holzer Holzer and Fistel. Judging by documentation provided to investors as well as the press, we feel confident now to speak on our own (not just repeating what others have said) in saying that it’s exactly what it looks like. EA executives are being held responsible for crimes that they have indeed committed against the investors of their company and have also resulted in hurting the video game industry as well as fans of the Battlefield series. There’s more to it than is being currently reported by mainstream media though, as of course RealGamerNewz is always willing to speak what others will leave out.

First let’s cover the basics…

  • “Plaintiff seeks to recover damages on behalf of all purchasers of Electronic Arts common stock during the Class Period (the “Class”)”

This is the statement that reads on the EA lawsuit and begins a myriad of reasons. In common language we can describe them like this – EA execs made statements that raised the price of Electronic Arts stock which they allegedly knew to not be true and then sold their own stocks while at a record high. Here’s a small image major mainstream press has taken of the second half of court documents which are available to all (here) and break down how much money they essentially embezzled from their own company by doing this type of stock manipulation and financial fraud.

Now for the stuff other sites and magazines aren’t reporting  – on top of this, EA also mentioned that with Battlefield 4 they were the most pre-ordered next-generation game which we personally found extremely doubtful even though the Battlefield series is viewed as a fan favorite – it has never been the best seller in the FPS genre. Approximately a day after making this statement though charts were released showing Call of Duty: Ghosts as the clear winner of such a title forcing us to believe that EA lied about this as well. If not lies, there must have been a twist on the truth so extreme and far-reaching that it would likely only be labelled fraud in the court of law.

The next complaint is that the game suffered too many bugs at launch causing the Delay of BF4 DLC and other projects from DICE / EA Games which will inevitably result in less money for investors (not to mention BF4 failed to meet sales expectations and pre-sale claims). We have it on good authority (from un-named sources within DICE) that EA Games refused the development firm’s plea for a next-gen Beta due to agreements and contracts with Sony and Microsoft related to launch-day sales. Beyond that, DICE has come on record in the public as saying that EA Games is to blame for issues of the game crashing. Could it be that these issues are the result of DRM being removed from the title post-haste since it became such a taboo word when Sony defamed the business practice at PS4’s reveal? We aren’t entirely sure, but DICE says EA is at fault for the bugs and that they couldn’t fix them any faster if they wanted to.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story as it becomes available to us, and don’t believe everything that you read either for or against EA in this situation since most journalists do not read all of the legal documents. This has taken us a long time but is very beneficial as we discovered a lot of not-well-known details during the Call of Duty lawsuit fiasco that happened between Activision and COD’s creators.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Bug Discovered For PS4 Users w/ Over 99 Friends

Ubisoft’s struck a cord of joy with making many gamers happy since Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s release. The game’s open world nature and excitement have renewed interest in a franchise that has many loyal fans but was beginning to run long in the tooth and prompt fears that it was being milked.

With the release of PS4 gamers on PSN can now have up to 2,000 friends, finally alleviating the pain of deleting inactive friends and then regretting it later when you want to see how they’re doing or game with them again.

Unfortunately players are playing right now and are unable to web sync data as well as being unable to play the ‘fleets’ content in the video game if they have over 99 friends in their PlayStation Network friends.

Ubisoft is aware of this and working on the bug, here’s to hoping they get this fixed soon.

League of Legends Bugfix for Blue Minion XP Glitch Incoming Today

Riot Games will be implementing a new bugfix today ahead of their League of Legends Championships which fixes a bug causing players to sometimes receive extra XP when killing blue minions in the game. They have also extended an apology and explanation for why it took so long to fix, stating that the weekend is a peak time for their servers and they couldn’t roll out the update during the weekend because it would have jeopardized server stability. Additionally, the first bugfix they developed had to be re-worked as it caused other problems.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Delayed

Microsoft has announced through Major Nelson that the Xbox 360’s physical release of Minecraft, dubbed Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, will not be releasing on time with its scheduled release date. However, this delay comes with good reason. The delay of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will allow for even more bug fixes and content to be contained in the game thus making it a more polished release. Check out the Tweet below from Major Nelson which announced this to the world publicly:
