The Ayrton Senna Tribute… Rest In Peace

The following trailer was created by Polyphony Digital and the team behind Gran Turismo 5, 6, 7, and Gran Turismo TV. This video is a little bit different than the ones you’ve mainly become accustomed to these studios releasing though. Ayrton Senna Tribute Trailer is all about celebrating the life of a race car driver who was abruptly the victim of loss of life during an accident which took place mid-race. This took place 20 years ago this month in an Italian F1 Grand Prix Race. If you are a fan of racing, please take a moment to view what the Gran Turismo team has prepared in order to pay their respects to the driver who passed away as a result of an accident on the track May 1, 1994.

Top 5 Best Looking PlayStation 3 Exclusive Games

#5: Killzone 3

While KZ2 took the approach of dark and dreary, Killzone 3 added a new palette of colors to the high-resolution formula Guerrilla Games introduced and maintained a level of polish that kept PS3 in the headlines even as current-gen hardware began to age. This game earns its spot in blood as it even keeps the same graphical integrity in its multiplayer mode.

#4: Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time

Many people may write off the Ratchet series since its art direction is not realism, but what has been witnessed in this title is simply one of the best looking games on PS3 hands down.

#3: Uncharted 2

Despite the gameplay, Uncharted 2 was one of those games that had people walking away saying they felt like they just saw a movie and remains to this day one of the most impressive uses of the PS3 hardware graphically.

#2: Gran Turismo 5

With over 200,000 polygons for a single car GT5 produced some of the most hyper-realistic graphics the racing simulation genre has seen on the PlayStation 3 with many clamoring to see what Polyphony Digital can do with Sony’s PS4 hardware next.

#1: God Of War III

Despite having a successor title named Ascension GOW III has managed to remain the best looking PlayStation 3 game to date with the one-two combination of incredibly detailed graphics paired with smooth and vivid animations causing so much action to be seen on-screen at a time that the behemoth set pieces and even environmental hazards such as entire monsters being a level in and of themselves are simply unbeatable on PS3.

PS3 SERVERS SHUT DOWN: Gran Turismo 5, Resistance Series, SOCOM Series, And MAG

Sony is prematurely pulling the plug on Gran Turismo 5 as well as the Resistance series while arguably putting the dead dog to rest with both the SOCOM and MAG series. This is perhaps worst for MAG players as the title has no single player experience to speak of. Gran Turismo 5 and Resistance 3 are particularly surprising to see shut down this early in the game though and beg the question of gamers – when will Sony shut off Gran Turismo 6 if this is what they consider a decent life span for GT5’s online mode?

Time will tell, but luckily online isn’t as important for GT6 as it is for a first person shooter like Resistance. Players who never got to experience the arguably unique gameplay of Resistance 2’s online mode are completely out of luck if they don’t jump on it soon, and this action sets a precedent for even older titles like Warhawk which Dylan Jobe recently told us was safe – we’re not so sure after this (hopefully they green-light his vision for a Warhawk PS4 title. It would appear Sony doesn’t care about meeting the same standards as the PlayStation 2 era in terms of keeping online servers up for popular games.

January 28, 2014 is the Official Shut Down Date for these games. Sony has yet to comment how many other games are being shut off in 2014 and which / when.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted Review

Many people will tell you that Need for Speed Most Wanted is one of the best Need for Speed games ever made. So you can imagine people’s reactions when Criterion Games announced they were going to release an updated re-imagined version of the game, me included. Let me just straighten something out now. I love Need for Speed, I played, finished and loved everything from Underground to Carbon, and I’ve even played games like Gran Turismo, Forza, and PGR and loved them too. So just take it from me when I say this. THIS GAME IS TERRIBLE. There’s no sugar coating it, it’s awful, and woeful and glitch-ridden.

So you’re probably wondering what makes it so bad, I mean, Most Wanted was an amazing game, how could they mess it up so badly? Well they managed too, they messed it up completely. But let’s start with the good stuff, the very little there is. I have to admit the game looks nice, the cars look realistic and the buildings and environment look highly detailed. Even the HUD elements look futuristic and space aged and suits the game’s look perfectly, even though the buildings to have this certain apocalyptic look to it. And pulling off awesome drifts around corners and overtaking 4 opponents is one of the best feelings ever. Umm. . . err. . . okay let’s go to the fun stuff, the bad parts!!

First of all, I have to bring this up. The plot. Okay, so the plot in the first game wasn’t exactly a masterpiece, but it introduced the setting and plot and most importantly a reason for wanting to defeat the blacklist, i.e. revenge. In the new game you just get plonked in a city and are told there are 10 racers who are better than everyone because they are 10 Most Wanted racers who constantly have to avoid the police. The police apparently being incapable of doing a simple check to find out where they live.

But here comes the best part. You can’t buy cars, the very first car you’re dumped into is a Porsche Carrera S and for those of you who know your cars, you’ll know it’s not exactly a barge. You change cars by simply finding another one with its logo above and hit one button and boom, car is yours to use at any time. This ties into the races, because, say if you want to do a race in your Audi instead of your Porsche. Fine, you switch to the Audi only to discover that the Audi has its own set of races to complete and you have to do that race in your Porsche.
