Watch Dogs Online Multiplayer Hands-On PS4 First Impressions w/ HD Gameplay

Watch Dogs when taken online provides a fluid multiplayer experience in a large living city filled with hack-able infrastructure feels a lot better in your hands than it might have looked or sounded in advertising. Watch Dogs has a slick feel and stays intense with heavily team based and solo reliant modes available. In a lot of ways, the controls and feel to the title’s multiplayer rely on expected and already known movements that players can recall from other games in the open world action game genre. That being said, plenty of new gameplay aspects are introduced and satisfy the need for innovation in the genre.

Players may use phone energy per hacks, and better stuff takes more energy. Some hacks may backfire, and that’s all part of the chaos as random gunfights erupt, players accept contracts on the fly, join missions at any time online from single player, stay in lobbies with other players and continue voting on maps and playing more or back out and do a different mode, shoot while riding passenger in a car, hack while driving in a car, identify useful and varying degrees of exclusive information through hacking tech, and more.

This title presents a number of optional side content in the multiplayer including ctOS Mobile Challenges, Cash Run Challenges, random encounters with other online players who invade your game trying to hack and/or kill you, and a lot more. The real meat of the online multiplayer, however, is definitely the larger scope, team-based combat aspect presented in more advanced gameplay modes that Watch Dogs provides online (such as Decryption).

“Race shortcuts and dirty tactics are appreciated but optional” players are told as online speed sessions take place. This is a real statement, since sometimes side tracking yourself with shortcuts could cost you the match – especially if every racer tries to huddle into the shortcut at the same time. Races also manage to feel totally different based on the vehicles used and map chosen. Sometimes it’s just a matter of grabbing a huge lead and messing up everything behind you by hacking traffic lights, road construction, etc. and other times it’s truly a fight to the finish with race cars that handle well, motorcycles and dirt bikes, or other various matches.

Some players found that while engaged in hacking other players’ games, hiding in a car with dark windows (by pressing Circle or B) is a great tactic when the game needs players to hack an unaware player and not be spotted. Again, as mentioned in the Video Impressions – this may sound corny and gimmicky at first, but when players take controllers into their own hands the feel of Watch Dogs is tight and on point. Small criticisms include the lack of direct support for the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller on the Windows PC version of the game unless players get some sort of middleware or adapter (despite indie games like Assault Android Cactus having this feature), and low-tier cars feeling pretty much like old school retro vehicles pulled out of mob video games (but medium-high tier vehicles, dirt bikes, boats, etc. feel great)! In the end these are very minor issues that don’t stop Watch Dogs from giving a great online experience.

Decryption: In Decryption, two teams of four face off capturing data that must then be decrypted. The data object is first obtained through either team and then the two teams fight over it as defenders and attackers. Distributed processing among the team’s phones while de-crypting is used, so the more players that are close together the faster the file is decrypted. Once the file has been decrypted the mission is complete and the secrets of the target are no longer safe. Cha-ching, money time. Gameplay-wise, this can cause results which vary based on the map between shootouts on foot or races and players hacking / destroying everything in sight. Players who end up in the passenger seat can help out an escaping driver who is busy de-crypting a file and making the getaway by hacking intersections and pipelines on the way to the big win.

Tech PSA: SSL Hack Earlier This Week Gets Public Information Release From Tumblr, Metacritic

The public mainstream users of popular internet service Tumblr have been notified today that two-factor authentication practices are now recommended as well as a password change on the Tumblr website. Unfortunately this information release forgets to mention some pertinent information, a compromise has occurred through an SSL vulnerability known as the “Bleeding Heart” security hole to hackers who took advantage of this earlier in the week to acquire an unknown amount of personal information.

If you use Tumblr then your password and personal information has just been potentially compromised. Unfortunately, you can’t go changing your name, birthday, home address, phone number, and email on every social profile every time something like this happens. Security Questions and Password Recovery are always a haunting reminder that there’s back-doors to our accounts everywhere.

Long story short, you can change your password. And if the password you use for Tumblr is one that you’ve used on many accounts then those should be considered compromised until also changed. It’s best to establish a password-tier system of low, medium, and high level passwords that you keep based on the importance of each gateway. Even better still, some internet users still have the patience to create a unique password for every service they are a part of.

This security breach is the latest in a long multiple year string of never-ending breaches which have included the breach of PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Credit Card Companies, Government and Military Databases, Adobe, Google, SnapChat, and many other well known services. Stuff like this often gets swept under the rug unfortunately, and end users don’t always get all of the information. Be sure to change passwords periodically and avoid forgetting and recovering them constantly or you’ll also be filling your data-stream with the info needed for that back-door as well.

Here is the Public Information Release from Tumblr today:

“A major vulnerability has been disclosed for the technology that powers encryption across the majority of the internet. That includes Tumblr. Our team took immediate action to fix the issue, but you should still take some time to change your password, not only on Tumblr but on any other sites you visit.

You should also strongly consider enabling two-factor authentication. It’ll go a long way to ensure that no one besides you can access your account. Thanks, and take care.”

Here is the Public Information Release from MetaCritic today:

“Dear Metacritic User,

Earlier this week, a major vulnerability in the technology that powers encryption across much of the Internet was discovered. Our security team has verified that Metacritic was not affected. If you’re using the same password on a site that has been affected, it’s recommended you change your Metacritic password as a precaution.”

-The Metacritic Team

Update #3:

“A lot of websites are currently reporting vulnerabilities (dubbed the Heartbleed bug) discovered in OpenSSL, the encryption technology used by a majority of websites and/or online services like banks, e-mail providers and social media sites, to protect sensitive data as it’s transmitted from users to web services.

Even though Battle.net’s encryption was not affected by this vulnerability, your account could be at risk, if you use the same password on Battle.net that you use elsewhere (sites affected by this bug). If this applies to you, it’s strongly recommended to change your Battle.net password to a new, unique password (the safest one would contain capitals, numbers and special signs). It’s best for your account safety to maintain separate login credentials for each online service you use. Using the same e-mail and password across multiple services greatly increases the potential impact of any compromise.”

How To Cheat In Titanfall – Infinite Burn Cards Glitch (*Warning: May Result In Ban)

RealGamerNewz does not condone the act of cheating, glitching, or causing exploits – however, the only way to get these types of flaws ironed out in a game is for them to be discovered and brought to the attention of developers. Respawn Entertainment has already announced that they will be banning accounts guilty of these acts. A new glitch allowing Infinite Burn Cards has been revealed by the community recently and is the latest issue facing multiplayer gamers in Titanfall today.

Here are the instructions to performing this glitch as well as visual instructions below that, which were created by TeamBeyond.

Step #1. Get 1 Titan Burn Card.

Step #2. Equip that and two other Burn Cards (these two will be lost in the process).

Step #3. Join Match.

Step #4. When dead, pick Titan Burn Card (hover over it).

Step #5. Press Y.

Step #6. When Titan drops into the match, Press A on a different Burn Card.

Step #7. Respawn Entertainment and EA Games bans you, just kidding (but seriously, this may result in a ban).

Rumor: Ellen Page Suing Sony for Nude Character Glitch in Beyond: Two Souls

Reportedly a “glitch” was allegedly discovered (or perhaps triggered using a debug menu on a PS3 dev kit at either a developer’s studio or by a gaming journalist website intentionally?) in Beyond: Two Souls that ended up revealing Ellen Page completely nude. Originally, these visuals were promptly labelled “Not Safe for Work” and passed around the internet like crazy. Sony has since put the gag on any websites daring to try and show the imagery leading one report to suggest that their reaction to the situation as well as a later statement that they require these images removed from gaming press hubs due to “legal reasons” leads to a potential lawsuit already in the works behind the scenes, or even an out-of-court negotiation and settlement process.

The actress was simulated completely naked in the game. It is unclear if she knew this though, since the camera angles were never meant to be placed on the character’s body. It seems that while there was not meant to be explicit, full frontal nudity in Beyond: Two Souls, the parts of the body of the character that Ellen Page was playing were very much completely sculpted and developed. The only thing a ‘hacker’, ‘debug exploiter’, or ‘glitcher’ (whichever the truth is) would have to have done is change where the camera’s were facing during what many are calling a “strange” and “un-necessary” shower scene that took place in the game.

Some internet users out there in the social space have even gone as far as suggesting that David Cage may have a thing for modelling characters far beyond what the ESRB and PEGI ratings systems would allow, purely for private entertainment purposes. This is at face value a completely extreme claim backed up by nothing more than speculation on the behalf of forum users internationally, but should it become a part of Ellen Page’s legal team argument Sony could have some real expensive problems on their hands.

It remains to be seen exactly how the actress feels about what happened and whether or not Sony’s actions in the matter thus far will be much of any consolation to her. Did she know that her character’s completely nude body (down to the nipples, vaginal bits, and all) would be modeled? Will Ellen Page go easy on Sony or will she feel truly violated that the massive game company in charge of developer Quantic Dream and David Cage failed to prevent such a thing from happening?

Time will tell. At this point RealGamerNewz is waiting on further statements from the two parties in question before making any concrete assumptions about what will happen next. It’s worth noting that Heavy Rain mysteriously had the exact same problem.

***Editor’s Note: RealGamerNewz respects the copyright requests of Sony and Ellen Page and will not be hosting the alleged material in question. It has since  been deleted from the original source that was uploading it and we will not be uploading it in compliance with Sony’s requests to the press on not hosting such images. Thank you for understanding.

LinkedIn Accused of Hacking Email Accounts of its Customers

LinkedIn has been accused in a new court case being held against them in which claims are made that they’ve been using the password and login information of users to access their email accounts on third party services such as GMail. Access was allegedly gained through hack-like methods and then users contacts and address books were spammed with invites to the professional resume and networking website. This isn’t the first time someone has accused LinkedIn of doing this, and even their own website is home to over 500 complaints of this exact allegation.

Gamescom 2013: Call of Duty Ghosts: Global Hands-On Premiere [Full Livestream Replay]

Basic overview was gone over once more and if you missed that last time here’s a few summarizing details:

  • Create-A-Soldier: Replaces Create-A-Class and makes a new way to approach who you are as a player. Made up of multiple components including Character Customization.
  • Unlock Weapons with Squad Points to purchase equipment in any order you want.
  • Perk System is balanced and more custom with more Perks. 8 Slots to divide between the Perks, but each has its own weighted amount (for example 1, 2, 3, 5 slot points for one perk depending on its strength). You can remove your secondary though to get even more perks.
  • Strike Packages: Assault, Support, Specialist; New Killstreaks mainly ground-based to prevent over-powered attacks.

More of that Info on these details can be found HERE as originally detailed by the first multiplayer reveal. You can also check out that first Livestream if you missed it in its entirety Here.

New Exclusive Info – Blitz Gameplay Mode:

For the first time ever at Gamescom 2013, we were shown the new Gameplay mode Blitz on new landscapes Chasm, Whiteout, and Strikeout. In Blitz, players will be like Capture the Flag however you get to teleport back to safety with running into a portal after you grab an objective deep inside the enemy player’s camp. There of course you’ll have to defend your base and a timer is set on the enemy base once a flag is capped so that things can’t get too ridiculous.

The 9-Bang: A Flashbang that can be cooked and it increases its effect the more you hold it. If you just hold it and run, it still serves as a normal Flashbang.

Some weapons have built-in silencers or other attachments for example the Honey Badger, that way they have a more unique identity.

Odin Strike is completely different depending on which map you are on. Field Order must be completed in order to gain this weapon. When you drop the Odin Strike it will change the map’s dynamics in a big way. On one map, for example, a Satellite falls from the sky and wrecks parts of the  map while also causing an EMP effect.

Second-Screen Mode: Apps detect if you’re in the middle of playing the game and allows you to start modifying your squads, change your gear, and interact with social media on the fly. Most importantly, the App will have Clan Wars in addition to Clan Chat and a lot of Clan Support. Clan Wars has a new map every month with different locations that tie into different game modes from the game. You are matched up against other clans with the same size and skill level that you must compete with by playing the Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer. By playing in your matches, the data is cumulatively tracked. Every play you make with your clan changes the standing of your clan. The Call of Duty App will be on iOS (phone/tablet), Android (phone/tablet), and Windows 8 (phone/tablet).

Stock Market Used to Hack 160 Million Credit Cards Since 2008

According to a new indictment from the United States Department of Justice in collaboration with other worldwide authorities, further increasing the worry and uncertainty of the upcoming digital-only money era, it is being alleged that the Stock Market has been used by a very small group of intelligent hackers to live out what sounds like a plot to Hollywood’s next flick. Apparently NASDAQ has been hacked since ’08 as the indictment reads and it’s being pinned on 5-men who allegedly also have been running a hacking ring responsible for 160 million credit cards. Here’s some private instant messages shared between the group which the British equivalent of the feds shared with the world today:

“NASDAQ is owned,”

“30 SQL servers, and we can run whatever on them, already cracked admin PWS but the network not viewable yet. those dbs are hell big and I think most of info is trading histories.”

The hackers have also been named as multiple world governments worked together to catch them. God only knows what took so long. The hack has effected the 160 million+ credit cards but also effected the following companies: Nasdaq stock exchange, Citibank, PNC Bank, Heartland Payment Systems, 7-Eleven, JCPenney, Hannaford Brothers, and more.

  • Aleksandr Kalinin – Has not been apprehended at the time of this post.
  • Albert Gonzalez
  • Dmitriy Smilianets
  • Vladimir Drinkma
  • Roman Kotov – Has not been apprehended at the time of this post.
  • Mikhail Rytikov – Has not been apprehended at the time of this post.

The way they pulled things off is actually quite fascinating, and a full report on everything can be found HERE. Time will tell the completion of this attempt by law enforcement to stop the hackers, but if they are planning on travelling on aircraft attempting to evade capture; they will likely be grabbed fairly quickly as worldwide governments work together more than ever practically ignoring laws to get the people they want.

With security this great (sarcasm), I’m quite sure that the world is very excited to make the switch to a globalized, all digital money standard which will begin some time around 2018 and eventually become mandatory if the United Nations and World Bank has their way. Don’t worry bro, you’re totally safe. It only took 6 guys to completely turn Wall St. upside down and 5 years for somebody to actually do something about it, digital money is obviously the future right?

Watch Dogs – Live App ATM Hack [Video]

In the following trailer released by Ubisoft, Watch Dogs gameplay is acted out in real life. ATM’s are hacked with an app, and the money comes flying out of it as everyone around scrambles to grab some. This game takes place in the world that we basically live in already. Everyone is talking, on their apps, texts, emails, voice calls, and beyond. But nobody knows just exactly who’s listening, who can access these systems and use them as they please.

Watch Dogs not only addresses this issue, it is also a massive and living open-world experience that puts those powers in your hands as all electronics bow to your command. Watch Dogs releases on November 19, 2013 in North America, on November 21, 2013 in Australia, and on November 22, 2013 for Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC. The game will also launch on next-generation consoles Xbox ONE and PlayStation 4 at some point during the third fiscal quarter of 2013.
