New 3DS XL TV Ad from Nintendo Fails Hard At Marketing New Device to Anybody

Some of us more so than others are looking forward to the release of the Nintendo New 3DS XL. But this latest advertisement had us scratching our heads for a second. What you’re looking at above is a freeze frame shown on-screen for literally microseconds after a visual of the new console is shown paired with a great nostalgic arrangement of sounds.

We got nothing new here, and the actual information you see in the screen above was pretty much impossible to clearly notice if you’re just a passing consumer. This is another example of Nintendo wasting money on advertising that’s not going to get mainstream consumers educated nor interested in this device. Leave it to the YouTube community they are aggressively attacking or sites like RealGamerNewz which they give a cold shoulder to despite our love for their games I suppose…

I’ve heard Nintendo of America is simply bad at advertising, but it appears to me more like they wish to trick overly eager consumers out of their money instead of earning early adopters like myself the right way through disclosing great features and details about the device.

Perhaps Nintendo just made this video so you’d hit rewind a thousand times and earn them ad revenue? Another day another dollar! On with the show mates!

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate are both being released for the existing Nintendo 3DS and will be compatible with the New 3DS device as well. Majora’s Mask will be in a remastered state for both the Nintendo 3DS and the New 3DS. Don’t let this ad confuse you to otherwise.

However, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will be exclusive to the New 3DS hardware family and is the port of an existing game from Nintendo Wii days. It is expected that Nintendo will release much more Gameboy Advance, N64, and Wii software to the New 3DS hardware (and assumedly the Wii U as well), eventually. It is also expected that with the New 3DS Nintendo will begin to allow the release of more indie, free-to-play, and/or cheap digital games. How far this will go or if Nintendo will stay committed to these plans remains to be seen though, and unclear ads like this certainly were not helpful to mainstream audiences, gamers, or anybody really… and if it weren’t for DVR / Tivo / YouTube then we wouldn’t even know this freeze frame existed in this extremely brief, paid for TV ad Nintendo just spent their hard earned cash on.

Keep it locked to RealGamerNewz for real hands-on impressions of the Nintendo New 3DS XL from a consumer’s point of view and without bias. We look forward to comparing notes to gamers out there who are looking to be early adopters for this hardware and will work to provide Reviews as well as News on this emerging platform as well as continue our existing 3DS coverage lineup.

Leaked: New3DS Gets Its Release Date, Exactly One Month From Today

As the Nintendo 3DS becomes discontinued, and the 3DS XL drops in price, a new leak has surfaced giving the exact release date of the New3DS and New3DS XL AKA New Nintendo 3DS XL which will “open a new world of gaming” according to Nintendo featuring extra buttons, face tracking 3D, a built-in Amiibo reader, C stick analog on the right side, and a better spec of components including a beefed up processor.

It is currently being speculated that Nintendo may be ready to introduce Gameboy Advance and Super Nintendo games to the Virtual Console specifically for this New3DS but that is just speculation at this point and has not been announced by Nintendo. There will however be exclusive games for the console.

Many Nintendo 3DS games scheduled for release will still work on the existing 3DS and 3DS XL (as well as 2DS models) but in theory this will not be the case over time as the platform is shifted to the New3DS primarily. Many people are looking into advanced trade-up offers from retail stores or online websites, or even ebaying their equipment now. Me personally, I am going to keep my 3DS XL and collection of games for it and invest in building a totally separate one for the New3DS. I look forward to seeing Nintendo announce a lot more for the platform, but understandably so they appear to be focusing on rolling out Wii U and 3DS games first and foremost this year.

Early adopters will likely be already expecting most of the New3DS games to be announced towards the end of the year and top of next year so 3DS has more time to shine this year. But the eShop’s indie scene should give way to a great selection of games like Shovel Knight to hold them over until the blockbusters start hitting.

Nintendo Discontinues 3DS in Favor of Upcoming #New3DS , Wildly Popular 3DS XL , and Budget Model 2DS

Reports that have since been confirmed by Gamestop reps have come in that retailers are no longer listing stock for brand new models of the traditional Nintendo 3DS. These are well known to many YouTubers as the easiest 3DS handheld systems to get modded with built-in capture devices for creating great gameplay videos and livestreams. Now, that type of setup will be even more rare it seems, at least for the time being. Nintendo will not be updating stock with further shipments of the original 3DS model to retailers and instead will focus on rolling out the New3DS as well as selling off the remaining 3DS XL units while they are still popular, keeping 2DS alive for now so anybody low on cash can still jump into this great platform’s fun library. Those who demand a 3DS before this is all said and done, there is always the used market – better get online and buy one before this news spreads far and wide since Nintendo hardware doesn’t seem to drop in value too much these days.

RUMOR: Nintendo’s Next Portable System, “New3DS” Could Be Region-Free (Import-Friendly)

***UPDATE: Nintendo has confirmed that the New3DS will NOT be Region-Free and in fact will have the same Region-Lock technology as the Nintendo 3DS, disappointingly. The original unedited rumor follows below:

Nintendo recently revealed to the world that they will be releasing a brand new Nintendo 3DS called “New3DS” that has more RAM, a better CPU (Processor), more trigger buttons, a directional right analog nub, and exclusive game “Xenoblade Chronicles for New 3DS” coming alongside it this October in Japan but not until 2015 in North America. There will be a large LL (XL) version as well as a normal sized one both of which are bigger than 3DS and 3DS XL respectively by a small margin. New3DS also comes with a better 3D viewing screen according to Nintendo which will allow the display of higher resolution graphics and more wide viewing area for the 3D effect gamers on Nintendo handhelds currently enjoy.

A new Rumor has arisen, regarding the fact that New3DS could be the gateway to traveller’s getting the best of both worlds. Those who travel between the Americas, Europe, Japan, Australia, etc. on business may want to be able to purchase games on the go that work in their unit. Even more so, Import-Friendly gamers may want to pay the extra fees and shipping to get a game that only came out in Japan. Nintendo might be allowing a Region-Free setup for New3DS according to whisperings on Wall Street. If this turns out to be true, any New3DS game from any country could be played in a New3DS of any origin. Games and Handhelds would be universal for this transitional-gen of Nintendo New 3DS.
