Mario Kart 8 Deluxe released for the Nintendo Switch in 2017 but was actually an ultimate iteration of the original Mario Kart 8 game released for the Nintendo Wii U console in 2014. This means that while many new Switch owners are just getting around to the nearly flawless title, universally loved by Mario Kart fans worldwide, the game itself is actually 6 years old already. We must remember to keep this in mind when discussing the possibility of Mario Kart 9 arriving this year, as it may be surprising to some.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild took the world by storm and made the Nintendo Switch what it is today in terms of endearment to the gaming community and rapid paced adoption of the hardware translating into a healthy amount of software sales going on at any given time. However, with the Zelda franchise such an important IP for Nintendo, the timing of its release will be determined by the ultimate quality version being reached. Nintendo will not chance a mediocre release in this franchise, and we have rumors swirling that BotW 2 will not make its original 2020 release target window.
