20,000 People Sign Petition in Spain to Ban Bull Fighting Video Game

A game about bull fighting has a 20,000 signature petition against it in Spain and now censorship threatens to close the game development studio behind the title if it is not allowed to release. Financially, video games take years to make, most development studios have their entire future riding on each release.

Toro is being accused of promoting animal violence, however it is actually part of a long standing heritage and provides the virtual alternative to viewing these historical sports which the modern world now views as wrong and cruel against animals (which I totally agree with).

It’s a game, it’s not real and actually spares real bulls: who want a bullfight can go play instead of giving audience in the arena. Showing our future generations how barbaric man has been in the past allows them to learn how we have evolved and become a more civilized planet, while at the same time warning them of the dangerous of turning backwards on the road to evolution.

Updated: RGN Community Response

One reader Mixelon wrote the following in response to this article:

“Wtf. In a country where bull fighting is legal, bullfighting videogames risk censorship? That’s some bizarre inconsistency.

I’m ALl for banning ACTUAL bull fighting, it’s stupidly barbaric and has absolutely no place in the modern world.. All animal blood sports should be banned..

Games about it though? I think a bullfighting videogames sounds potentially interesting if a bit limited.. If anything if it shows how freaking horrible the whole thing is it could be beneficial.”

Target Follows Through on Petition to Remove GTA:5 From Their Shelves

Well surprisingly against some wishes of the community, and despite many people opposing the supposed wrongful petition, Target actually followed through with the petition against GTA V being on Target’s shelves, and they were not the only store to follow suit as Kmart did the same. Yesterday I posted an article about 3 women starting a petition to do as I stated, get the Australian Target store chain to remove this game from their store shelves, and they actually did. But why? Many people  opposed this and even one person started another petition in order to get Target to re-add the game back to their shelves. The reason he states is {Quote}   ” The petition that started this was initiated by very misinformed people. They claim the game ‘encourages’ you to commit sexually violent or generally violent acts against women. As someone who has played the game in question extensively (Almost 200 hours), I can confirm that this is a false claim. The game NEVER encourages this. They also completely ignore the fact that there’s much more violence against men than women, but it’s definitely not on a level that should have the video game removed from stores. Plus the game has an R18+ rating for a reason.” {End Quote}

And this is true. A game that is Rated 18+ is rated so due to either violence and gore, Language, or Nudity, and this one has all three. And I have also played this game, completed the campaign, and even had at least 300+ hours of online gameplay, and not once was I prompted or forced to do anything sexual to anybody, male or female. But this is a Petition that is going on now to have Target Negate the previous petition and re-add the game back on to store shelves. You can check out the Petition and sign it here –> https://www.change.org/  and also check out my previous article Involving the petition to remove the game from store shelves here –>  http://realgamernewz.com/43153. And comment on your thoughts, were these women actually misinformed, or are they correct in saying GTA V is all about sexual assault?

Petition Filed Against EA Games by Fans: ‘Finish Star Wars 1313’

Upon George Lucas selling LucasArts to Disney, one of the casualties of war was the impressive looking Star Wars 1313 which was visually debuted to massive fanfare and critical acclaim. The title has even spawned several advanced processing techniques which LucasFilm recently bragged are still being used to this day. However, the actual game itself has been cancelled with Disney giving EA Games the exclusive rights to make games under the Star Wars license. Fans are striking back.

In a Petition Filed Against EA Games by Fans, one signature reads:

“It could be said that the sudden cancellation of this game, regardless of circumstance, after it’s initial showing and response from anyone who has seen this product is the single greatest tragedy in gaming entertainment history. Star wars 1313 looked like a fresh setting in an already well known universe and the crowds were about to be wowed only to have our/their dreams swiftly cut down, what a shame. Personally, I would have loved to have seen what this game could’ve become and generally this game could’ve broken boundaries in visuals, storytelling, acting performance and a handful of other things i’d imagine; but, this will take a little more than a petition to breathe life back into 1313. Perhaps electronic arts will pick up the mantle as they already have some stunning star wars products on the way for all of us and they sound quite promising.”

The petition has reached over 6,300 supporters at the time of this posting. It remains unclear if this will have any effect on the future of Star Wars 1313, but we now live in a day and age in which the common gamer’s voice can  be heard louder than ever before. Take a look at the video below and consider signing it. This gameplay video was taken with 100% in-game technology, it was the effort of many years of labor and many back and forth struggles against a poor management system by a great number of passionate and talented developers who might now see all of that work gone to waste.

Over 10,000 Signatures for Petition AGAINST GTA V PC Version

You may remember that a while back I reported on a signature AGAINST Grand Theft Auto V hitting the Windows PC platform. Now that petition has grown above 10,000 and the main reason being cited here is that piratebay and websites like it will end up with cracked versions of the game causing people to steal it and have GTA V for free. Turns out there was also another petition like this which gained over 4,800 sigs; all together that’s almost 15,000 signatures.

The signatures include messages like “i hate when good games get ruined due to pirating, support the industry you love.” and “Years ago, people just want GTA IV for their pc’s… Rockstar has listen to them and make gta iv pc version… after that, their going to hate rockstar because (for them) gta iv on pc wasn’t what they expect… now they don’t deserve gta V!!!!” which refers to the complaints from PC gamers that GTA IV was “another one of those crappy console ports”.

So how do you feel? Should the game come out on PC or not?

The petition for it to come out on PC has reached over 575,000 signatures but as I outlined in yesterday’s article, I don’t think anybody should expect it until at least WELL AFTER Holiday 2013. The reasons are outlined in that article so check it out and let us know how YOU feel about this entire situation.

Petition for GTA V on PC Reaches Over 575K Signatures; But Don’t Hold Your Breath

Despite the somewhat mixed response to past releases from Rockstar Games on Windows PC from the computer gaming community, the petition for Grand Theft Auto V (our RGN Review here) to hit the platform has continued to garner a massive interest worldwide. At the moment of this posting over 575,000 people have signed the petition for GTA V to come to the PC. One of the most likely reasons Rockstar Games has remained silent about this and has yet to reveal plans for a PC release is the fact that piracy is extremely high on the platform. Although every platform suffers from it in today’s gaming environment, we see ridiculously huge ratios on Windows PC.

It’s likely that if a PC version of the game does exist, it will not be shown or mentioned anytime soon in order for Take-Two Interactive to prevent Rockstar Games from shooting themselves in the foot in terms of jeopardizing Holiday 2013 sales of Grand Theft Auto V by encouraging pirates and bootleggers who would just prefer to sit it out and wait for a free copy to hit the illegal content sharing websites out there.

Some of the reasons petition signers have listed in terms of why they would like to see GTA V hit the PC include the ability to mod the game (which may also interfere with plans for DLC, as some of the modding community takes up the task of attempting to recreate officially paid DLC as free mods in worst case scenarios), and enhanced graphics (which may not exist at this point in time since the game was created as a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 exclusive with a large focus on gameplay).

If given enough time to satisfy investors and upgrade systems, Rockstar Games will probably address these issues and release a PC version that computer gamers can be proud of; complete with great modding ability and enhanced graphics. However, if it isn’t going to be perfect players might  be better off just biting the bullet and buying it for PS3 / 360 consoles this Holiday 2013 season to avoid the agony of not playing the world’s fastest selling video game in history.

EA Shows Which Free Games SimCity Players Will Get

As things seem to be drawing to a close (pending any unforseen last minute deal-breakers) with the SimCity scandal, EA Games has put out a full Media Blackout and swept the SimCity Offline Mod under the rug despite the obvious insult to gamers’ intelligence as they roll out the list of games that will  become free for SimCity purchasers who weren’t able to convince Customer Service reps to issue a refund. Shenmue 3 Needs Funding, Will You Donate to the Cause?

Recently Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki made it known that he is working on a Shenmue 3 title but needs funding. The title is still revered to this day as one of the best Dreamcasat games of all time and has even gone on to spawn many fan-based projects and demands/petitions for the revival of the series on modern platforms [thinking about a Kickstarter-like model to fund Shenmue 3, would also like to continue the story of Shenmue in anime or manga form]. Would you help to fund a Shemnue 3 title?
