Ubisoft Offering Apology to Gamers, Free Games + DLC

If you bought Assassin’s Creed: Unity’s Season Pass, you will now get a choice between which free game you’ll be picking from:

  • The Crew
  • Far Cry 4
  • Watch Dogs
  • Assassin’s Creed Black Flag
  • Rayman Legends
  • Just Dance 2015
Those people who are eligible for a free game will also get the first piece of DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Unity for free. This motion is as an apology for the bugs in AC: Unity and presumably shady piece of business done in which reviews were not allowed to surface until 12 hours after the game’s public launch was achieved. Keep in mind, Ubisoft has still announced that they will not be handing down Review Copies of The Crew until after launch and that this free game + free DLC offer also means the cancelling of the AC: Unity Season Pass. There’s no word yet on if further DLC down the line for the game will cost money or not for people who accept this apology and free game / DLC.
In one sense this is a good deal because the Season Pass was cheaper than most of these games cost. However, now you’ll most likely have to be forced to buy any DLC that comes after the initial free one even though you signed up to buy a Season Pass, not another Ubisoft game discounted. Strange gesture, but it’s coming from the right place. Happy Thanksgiving Gamers! [Some Info Sourced: Ubisoft]

Xbox One’s Highest Rated Game Isn’t Even An Exclusive

Titanfall launches tomorrow for Xbox One and PC. The reviews are piling in from publications praising the game and awarding it mostly, high scores. As of right now, on the review aggregated site metacritic.com, Titanfall has a positive score of 87/100. Of course this means the Xbox fanboys (The negative ones) are taking to the forums, comments sections, twitter and Facebook groups to “rub” it in the face of PlayStation fans, specifically owners of the new PlayStation 4.  They are even taking to Youtube to celebrate and brag and list all the high score; 8s, 9s, 5/5s and so on (though they seem to miss the 7/10 from The Globe and Mail). This video below by GibbMeisterXB1 doesn’t feature any negativity towards PS4 gamers but stats that Titanfall is “killing em”.

Titanfall, isn’t exactly “killing em”. Sure it is bringing in high scores and that’s great for the developers and publishers, but the fanboys are acting as though they’ve won the so called “Console Wars”; that it is the highest rated game on the console. Thing is, it isn’t. Rayman: Legends developed by Ubisoft is the highest rated game available on the Xbox One, currently sitting at 92/100. Rayman: Legends is a multiplatform title, available on PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC as well as Xbox One.

Hell, the Xbox One version of Fifa 14 from EA sits at 89/100.  So the “killer app” for your console isn’t even the highest scoring but the multiplatform title which is not only available for the PS4 but also current gen consoles, is. It is even scoring less than the soccer game when first-person shooters exclusives are arguably the most popular and score higher on Xbox platforms; Halo 2, Halo 3, Call of Duty etc. Titanfall is also on PC which many argue is the better version, and will also be dropping on Xbox 360 two weeks from now. Let that sink in for a moment or two.

Your Highest rated title isn’t even an exclusive!

Editor’s Note*: None of this should matter, it really doesn’t to me. We don’t benefit from a game on the platform we play scoring 3 points higher than that of a competitive platform’s game. Sure be happy that the game is scoring great, this helps the publishers as high scores equal more sales. Taking it and using it to bash one another is a waste of time and energy. Play the games you want and enjoy and let others do so for theirs as well. I’m preaching to all fans on all sides.
