Batman: Arkham Knight’s ‘Batgirl: A Matter of Family’ DLC Detailed

Warner Bros. recently revealed when fans can expect to download Batman: Arkham Knight‘s next DLC, starring Batgirl. Now WB Montreal (Arkham Origins) who developed the DLC, have shared new info on its plot and gameplay mechanics. Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl will team up with Robin in order to save her Father Commissioner Gordon, from the clutches of the Joker and Harley Quinn.

The DLC takes place before 2009’s ‘Arkham Asylum’ and is set in a brand new area called the Seagate Amusement Park. The Joker has turned the nautical them park into massive death trap. “We wanted to recreate the feeling of being trapped in a bizarre and unique open environment playing a game of cat and mouse with the Joker,” says design producer Justin Vazquez, speaking with EW.com.

Batgirl’s combat style differs from Batman’s, as it is a combination of his Brawn and her computer-genius intellect. Her hacking skills will allow her to solve puzzles, takedown her opponents and control objects.

“Hacking is really what separates her from the other characters. It’s a gameplay mechanic with which the player can create situations for Batgirl to really shine,” Vazquez says. “Our intention was that Batgirl should be less powerful than Batman, but that Batgirl plus hacking could give her opportunities do things that not even Batman can pull off.”

Arkham Knight’s popular Dual Play system will make its return, allowing players to switch between Batgirl and Robin when fighting the bad guys and pull off dual takedowns.  The developer promises an “epic tag-team throwdown” between Batman’s sidekicks and the Joker and Harley. “Seeing these four iconic characters together at the same time will be a real thrill,” Vazquez says. Harley will be wearing her iconic black and red outfit from Batman: The Animated Series.

There will be side quests, collectibles left behind by the Joker and Easter eggs for hardcore DC Comics fans to find. “[It’s] a love letter to the original game that started this incredible franchise,” says Vazquez.

Batgirl: A Matter of Family will launch on July 14th for those who purchase the Arkham Knight season pass ($40). It can be purchased separately on July 21 for $6.99.

Well if you plan on purchasing the game’s Season Pass, you’ll still be able to play as the Red Hood and utilize those booster packs. Batman: Arkham Knight’s Season Pass Detailed

Last week saw the reveal of the season pass for Rocksteady’s upcoming Batman title, and the reaction wasn’t terribly positive. With very little detail on what the pass would deliver and the $40 price tag, many fans were understandably upset. In response to this, Rocksteady has offered some details on what fans can expect including the option to play as Batgirl in her very own prequel story, new character skins and more.

“While the story of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Trilogy will come to a close on June 23rd, we are excited to continue telling stories and delivering more content to explore and play through in the 6 months following the game’s release. We’ll be building more narrative, more missions, more challenges and more characters and vehicles that we want players to experience, even though they didn’t fit into the storyline of Batman: Arkham Knight.”

While they aren’t ready to reveal everything on the season pass’ content, they were generous enough to offer enough to help the fans have a better understanding of what they will be developing.

Batgirl: A Matter of Family

An all new prequel story expansion in an entirely new location where you play as Batgirl for the very first time in the Arkham series

The Season of Infamy

Play as Batman in all new story missions featuring legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions and gameplay features

Gotham City Stories

Play as Batman’s key allies in narrative missions extending their storylines, from both before and after the events in Batman: Arkham Knight.

Legendary Batmobiles with Themed Tracks

Drive the most iconic Batmobiles from Batman’s 75-year history, on custom-built race tracks, each themed to that Batmobile’s specific era. Every Batmobile will be drivable across every race track.

Crimefighter Challenge Maps

Engage in a series of new challenge maps utilizing the unique play styles of Batman and his allies.

Character Skins

A variety of skins from across the eras for Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman.

If this amount of info still isn’t enough, rest assured more details are still to come as they “fully ramp up development on the Season Pass”.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor’s ‘The Bright Lord’ DLC Trophies Revealed

A brand new update has been released for Monolith Productions’ Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Coming in at around 8GB (Unless my eyes were mistaken), the update is most likely to prepare us for the game’s second upcoming story DLC. Seeing as there are now trophies available for The Bright Lord— which focuses on Celebrimbor (The Wraith, Master Smith), I’m certain this is the case. The trophies consists of 7 bronzes, 2 silvers and 1 hidden (Hopefully a gold one).

Stay tuned to RGN for more info, including a release date. In the mean time you can read our review here.

3 Million #Destiny Gamers Played New Raid In Just 24 Hours, @Bungie Announces New Mode

Dual Duel

-is a new 2 versus 2 double skirmish competitive multiplayer mode announced by Bungie and will be available for the week in Crucible. Jump in with one of your best friends, fam, or partners and get your game on as a two man army with Level Advantages Disabled, Small Team Tactics, and the ability to Revive your team mate. Why are we doing this? Because New Monarchy seeks those capable of reclaiming the frontier, one battle at a time, that’s why. Rewards include Crucible Gear, Crucible Marks, Crucible Reputation, and of course you can earn rep for your company if wearing their mark – which should be the New Monarchy for your main since the World Order will soon be achieved, have you seen the value of the Euro lately?

Our New Monarchy will be established soon to usher in the next Era, so get ready for the first experimental game mode from Destiny to celebrate the beginning of a series of experimental game modes which will be released soon according to Lars Bakken (Lead Designer at Bungie) who also gave a few more hints about what to expect in Dual Duel, calling it “a slower burn with more explosive pockets.”

  • Doubles is the first experiment
  • More New theoretical game modes coming soon
  • Two Guardian Fireteams
  • Heavy ammo appears once a match
  • Revives enabled
  • “It’s a gun game. Lars advises you to rely more on your wits, your weapon, and a strategy shared with only one other player. “Your Supers will come back more slowly because you’re not getting as many actions per minute as you would in a game of Control.”” – Bungie

  • “Space Magic will be at a premium. Use it wisely for the big plays. The most you’ll ever score is a Double Down, so make it count.” – Bungie

Bungie has announced that the new difficulty mode for Crota’s End on Destiny (its latest Raid available as a part of the Destiny Season Pass) has been attempted over half a million times. More than 3 million players have jumped in and one team in particular managed to get it done first within less than half an hour, and with proof that there was no exploiting seen in the footage below.

Evolve DLC Prices Getting Criticized by Gamers, Is It Too Much?

If you pre-order and play in the Beta right now, your progress will transfer over – you will get that skin – and you will get that monster. This is definitely an appreciated advantage to what Turtle Rock Studios is providing with Evolve. However, recently they have been drawn to scrutiny about their DLC pricing per monster and hunter.

The Hunting Season Pass comes for $24.99 and includes 3 monster skins as well as 4 hunter characters. Players can opt to not pay for it and they will still end up fighting against the more advanced monsters, and alongside the more advanced hunters or they can pick and choose Individual DLC which are priced at $14.99 per monster or $7.49 per hunter. The pre-order monster will be sold as well for $14.99 if you didn’t get the chance to do so.

On the flip side of things, new maps are free and it appears that hunters and monsters purchased as DLC will appear in matchmaking with players who don’t pick up the DLC as well, thus preventing the splinter of Evolve’s community. This is being looked at by many as acceptable, while getting criticized by others. Some say it is similar to Destiny and has an MMO type of feel to the way it’s designed.

Is this too much?
