Skyrim Will Hit PS4 / Xbox ONE an Error

Update: The listing it seems, was an error brought on due to a bug within the site’s CMS.

Peter Hines, VP of Development for Bethesda clarified on twitter.

Pete Hines @DCDeacon

“We have been working on the CMS that runs our sites. A bug caused platforms that don’t exist to show up for some games Sorry for confusion.”

He also went ahead and debunked the post from reddit.

Randy @vindictate

@DCDeacon “is it true you guys a “special announcement” on either 1.12.14 or 12.1.14!?! (Fallout 4 pls)”

Pete Hines @DCDeacon

@vindictate “no. Another fan hoax”

So as of right now, Skyrim is not coming to PS4 and Xbox One. Sorry for those who got their hopes up, but hey he didn’t flat out say Skyrim isn’t coming, so there’s that.

Original Story below:

According to a new posting on the Bethesda Softworks website, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which was fairly well received on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 despite glitches (and also made a fairly well appearance, modding community and all, on the PC platform) will eventually make an arrival on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox ONE next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony. This was first discovered by OnlySP and proof can be found on Bethesda’s own website HERE.

The Elder Scrolls Online Might Not Require Xbox Live Gold On Xbox ONE

UPDATE: PS+ Not Required for The Elder Scrolls Online, But XBL Gold Is…

Bethesda Softworks is reportedly working with Microsoft to try and get the Xbox Live Gold subscription fee waived for MMORPG players who just want to play The Elder Scrolls Online but do not wish to pay for Gold in addition to already paying for the monthly fee The Elder Scrolls Online will require. This is not a sealed deal however, and would do well with one of you fancy, new-age gamers’ petitions (the more signatures the better). Zenimax Online which was purchased by Zenimax Media (the parent company to Bethesda Softworks), renamed to Zenimax Online, and put to work on ESO would love for as many players as possible to experience the game.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox ONE require PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold respectively to access online multiplayer for pay-to-play games such as ESO or Call of Duty to provide another example people are familiar with.

In a recent article from our own Mitch Walters, it was cited that the cost of monthly MMO’s has been a barrier in the past for players on the console to really embrace the genre. Our Associate Editor Shawn ‘Pwnagraphic’ Stenberg chimed in with a counter-point argument, however it seems that Bethesda has already been trying to tackle this whole console MMO fee issue in their own way – and if successful – would rather see their players not get charged for Xbox Live Gold if ESO was enough to keep them entertained online.
