Tiger Woods games have consistently brought out the best and most realistic golfing experience in the industry. This year’s Tiger game wants to bring out the biggest and best experience we’ve ever had golfing on a console, but can EA Sports deliver what sports fans love? I myself watch a lot of sports. It’s one of my passions along with games, so when I got my copy of Tiger 14, I was eager to see what we’ve got in store for us.
Soundtrack, Audio, Voice: The soundtrack is the traditional experience of relaxing music presented in the calm sport of Golf. The Audio is near perfect when I hit the ball the sound was spot on, when it hit the ground it was nearly perfect as well. It may seem like a minor thing to most people, but the immersion level in this experience has you feeling like its the real thing. Voiceovers did not reflect my ideal broadcaster, but Jim did a decent job this year.
Graphics, Physics, Glitches, Engine Performance: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 is the best looking EA Sports game to date by far. Physics and graphics are near perfect with your shot is soaring realistically over the calm and smooth, detailed courses. Glitches are rare in this one, this is the most polished EA Sports game to date. The game engine works well, even showing emotion in golfers something that we have not seen before in EA Sports titles.
Golfers/Courses: Different golfers have different abilities as some can hit further or can accomplish better accuracy. Your own custom golfer can be effective at one or be balanced between all as a mixture of strength and talent so to speak. Courses also require different skills and strategies. Of course you can do each course with the same golfer, but some are easier to do with specific golfers.
Multiplayer: The new ways EA Sports has made Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 players connected to each other are great, such as the new Club feature which can set you up together with around 60 people per club. This feature is extremely useful and eliminates the need for adding people to a friends list because they can see when you come online, send/receive invites, and more. The game modes are all great and mostly classics in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 from the 9 hole to the 18 hole and many other ways of play. Game modes like Legends let you play past characters and use them to go further and collect more, this feature is similar to Madden Moments from Madden NFL 14.
Gameplay: The perfect golf experience is here. When playing with controller, it’s the classic experience but redefined and renewed. With Xbox Kinect or the PlayStation Move, the Kinect has the advantage and feels as if I’m swinging with an invisible club. Unfortunately on PlayStation Move it feels clunky, but decent enough to play with once mastered. The courses present different challenges as you go through them, some spots are better played with controller and others with motion controls such as Xbox Kinect or PlayStation Move.
Replay Ability: Very High
Final Verdict: A true reward to sports and golf fans everywhere, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 lets you experience the best PGA golf game out there and gets a 9.65 out of 10.
