Today we have been given further specifications of the next-gen Xbox Series X by Microsoft themselves. This news comes directly after a war on price has already begun between the two tech giants during which PS4 Pro is on sale (25% Off) and Xbox One X is on sale (40% Off) a skirmish which sets the tone for battle as Microsoft proves they are willing to eat more on hardware cost to gain monthly subscribers and heavy gamers who demand high specs.
To begin the revival of console wars, Xbox Series X ships with a 12 TFlop GPU by comparison to the rumored 9 TFlop GPU which PlayStation 5 houses. The cost to manufacture XSX is likely higher than that of the PS5 but their final retail price could both end up at $499 USD, the exact same price we predicted back in October, meaning PS4 can continue to be sold without too large of a price drop for a few years (long enough to surpass the PS2 as the highest selling console of all time).
However, this could also help Microsoft regain a lot of customers as they will be able to pitch the more powerful machine for the same cost, or even lower by gifting Xbox Game Pass, free games, controllers, and other bundles including even monthly financing payment options which Microsoft has utilized for Xbox One X.
