#GamersRyseUpAgainstHate – Xbox One Misinformation Channels Starting Their Own Internet Mob

A so-called movement has arisen online in which YouTube channels spreading false information about the Xbox One have vowed to defend each other in Internet forums against anyone trying to provide educational information against their content. While using the appearance of being against bullying, they are actually committing bullying against anyone who comments on their videos and calls them out on the spreading of false information.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Campaign Save Glitch Still Not Fixed

Recently I had the unfortunate luck of discovering a glitch in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s singleplayer outing. After finishing the campaign, not only did I not unlock the trophy for doing so but I noticed that I wasn’t able to replay the missions I had previously completed, via mission select.

A few days ago developer Sledgehammer Games released a patch for the game to fix many of the numerous issues it was facing. In the list of things the patch was supposed to fix, “Fixed rare save game issue affecting playthrough progression”, was one of them.

Upon reading this a few hours ago, I turned on my PS4, downloaded the patch and booted up the game only to find, that nothing had changed. Instead of getting pissed, shutting the game off and calling it a night, I decided to replay the final mission again. Sadly after beating, no trophy unlocked and the game still acts as though I have only beaten the first three missions.

It seems the patch didn’t do squat for this issue.

The full patch notes below. It has taken effect (Mostly?) for PS4 and PC, the Xbox One version is still pending.

  • Adjustment to the in-game chat names notifications placement.
  • Fixed Prestige reset issues, including emblems and challenges.
  • Fixed marksman and camo challenges to not reset when you Prestige.
  • Connectivity optimizations for game servers.
  • Fixed issues with Ping Bar not updating correctly.
  • Fixed stats not accumulating towards leaderboards after Prestiging.
  • Adjustment to challenges to unlock camos for weapons.
  • Fixed round-based game modes, affecting Win/Loss ratios.
  • Implemented ability to unlock eSports Rule options in Private Match.
  • Fixed weapon reloads counting as speed reloads in certain circumstances.
  • Added description to reload informing that you can double-tap to speed reload.
  • Fixed DoubleXP splash, so it doesn’t show up in Private Match, Combat Readiness Program, or Exo Survival mode.
  • Showing 4x or 2x based on whether a loot DoubleXP item exists
  • Add DoubleXP icon to medal splashes when DoubleXP is active.
  • Fixed rare save game issue affecting playthrough progression
  • KC score limit increased to 85 per match.

You can view my post patch recording straight from my PS4, showing the patch was ineffective for my issue.

So has this been fixed for anyone else or am I alone this firefight? Did you experience any of the other issues listed and were they also fixed? Sound off in the comments.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Campaign Glitch

Having just beaten the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare campaign on my PS4, I decided to go into mission select. As I am working on my review for the game’s strategy guide, my plan was to replay the missions and use it to mop up whatever remaining pieces of intel I missed. You know, for accuracy.

Much to my surprise, I discover that I can only select the first four missions to replay. It seems the game isn’t recognizing that I have beaten the full campaign, let alone any mission after the third one. I also didn’t unlock the trophy ‘A New Era’, for completing the campaign on any difficulty.

The video below was recorded via my PS4 after the fact. For those who have beaten the game, you’ll recognize this is the final mission ‘Terminus’. I only show the beginning of the mission but you can clearly see after backing out, and trying to use mission select again, that only missions 1-4 are available.

Very odd and annoying. Anyone else experiencing a similar issue?

Here’s 7 Minutes of New Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Gameplay

Popular Youtube personality PewDiePie has gotten his hands on the Gamescom 2014 demo for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. The video plays more like a montage than a walkthrough, with the constant switching between different moments in the demo.

Still you get to see more of the game in action, which is good thing. If you can stand his constant chatter and brand of humor; he’s edited celebrity faces on the Orcs he’s chosen to hunt down. I guess watching him pretend he just slayed Justin Bieber is kinda funny.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor releases on September 30, 2014 for PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

Twitch Announces Huge Buy-Out Deal Complete…. With Amazon! (Not YouTube)

In a heartfelt letter to the staff of Twitch and its many, many subscribers as well as broadcasters letting them know that the rumors which had boiled up about a Twitch buyout were not exactly as people thought. It turns out that Twitch will aim to retain many of its same employees, business model, and design vision under Amazon as a new partner. Amazon will acquire Twitch. The CEO of Twitch Emmett Shear had this to say to everyone about the deal which was completed for approximately $970 Million:

“Letter from the CEO
August 25, 2014

Dear Twitch Community,

It’s almost unbelievable that slightly more than 3 years ago, Twitch didn’t exist. The moment we launched, we knew we had stumbled across something special. But what followed surprised us as much as anyone else, and the impact it’s had on both the community and us has been truly profound.

Your talent, your passion, your dedication to gaming, your memes, your brilliance – these have made Twitch what it is today. Every day, we strive to live up to the standard set by you, the community. We want to create the very best place to share your gaming and life online, and that mission continues to guide us.

Together with you, we’ve found new ways of connecting developers and publishers with their fans. We’ve created a whole new kind of career that lets people make a living sharing their love of games. We’ve brought billions of hours of entertainment, laughter, joy and the occasional ragequit. I think we can all call that a pretty good start.

Today, I’m pleased to announce we’ve been acquired by Amazon. We chose Amazon because they believe in our community, they share our values and long-term vision, and they want to help us get there faster. We’re keeping most everything the same: our office, our employees, our brand, and most importantly our independence. But with Amazon’s support we’ll have the resources to bring you an even better Twitch.

I personally want to thank you, each and every member of the Twitch community, for what you’ve created. Thank you for putting your faith in us. Thank you for sticking with us through growing pains and stumbles. Thank you for bringing your very best to us and sharing it with the world. Thank you, from a group of gamers who never dreamed they’d get to help shape the face of the industry that we love so much.

It’s dangerous to go alone. On behalf of myself and everyone else at Twitch, thank you for coming with us.

Emmett Shear, CEO”

Psycho Dad Shreds Son’s Video Games in Hilarious Video

No HALO??!!!

Here’s an awesome little Youtube video that’s bound to make you laugh. A Father, fed up with his son’s unwillingness to quit playing video games all day and to get a job, decides to teach him a lesson. That lesson involves the son’s gaming collection and a lawn mower.

I’m pretty sure this staged but that doesn’t stop it from being funny as hell in my mind. The son’s pleads and tantrums are so over the top, and his reaction to the utter destruction of his games is well…just watch.

Thanks to fellow RGN writer Jesus Melgoza for the find.

Watch GTA V’s Trevor in Real Life

Popular Youtuber Nathan Barnatt loves to prank people. Two of his pranking videos feature him playing the role of Trevor Philips; everyone’s favorite psychopath from Grand Theft Auto V. In the videos ‘Trevor’ is desperately trying to dispose of man’s body, while attempting to enlist the help of the locals. It is entertaining stuff, especially the reactions of some of the people he comes in contact with.

Here’s 15 More Minutes of New Gameplay Footage For The Evil Within

Popular Youtube commentator PewDiePie has released a third gameplay video for the upcoming Bethesda published, Tango Gameworks developed survival horror title. This time around the footage clocks in at a little over 15 mintues, meaning you will be hearing a little less of his loud and often grating commentary. You could always use one of mankind’s greatest features; the mute button. Sure you won’t be able to hear the game’s audio but hey, it works for some people so give it a shot.

Peep the vid below. In case you missed it you can view parts 1 and 2 of his E3 gameplay demo footage.

The Evil Within will launch one week earlier on October 14, 2104 for PS3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Here’s Almost 17 Minutes of New Gameplay for The Evil Within

Once again the catch is to posses the ability to put up with PewDiePie’s incessant ramblings. The insanely popular Youtube personality has uploaded the second part to his E3 demo gameplay of The Evil Within. Clocking in at a shy under 17 minutes, the video shows off more of the scares and seriously F**ked up moments that await players this October. Your level of immersion depends on how well you can block out PDP’s commentary. Sadly there is no button that allows for the muting of commentators without the expense of in-game audio.

Check the video out below.

The Evil Within launches on October 14 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

YouTube Community Being Criticized for Taking Cash From Publishers – Is It Really So Wrong? [New Data]

Those who create “Let’s Play” videos or otherwise do video podcasting and video reviews of video games on YouTube are currently being criticized for taking money from video game publishers to do their work. In a survey in which YouTube producers were polled, over 25% of YouTube gaming personalities admitted to taking money. But hold the phone, aren’t these website which are reporting on this news also taking money from publishers in the form of ads that often come with specific censorship-like stipulations? Yep.

So let’s REALLY talk about this…

When is it okay and when is it not okay for publisher to pay video game publications or YouTube channels to talk about their game? I think the answer is pretty universal and obvious. Those who charge for Review content are definitely crossing a line which should never be crossed. Paying for a positive opinion that is being advertised as genuine and unbiased is wrong on the part of the publisher, who should have never offered such a deal to these medium or small websites / YouTube channels of various sizes, who are essentially starving artists to begin with. Larger websites, well… we all know they are pretty much corrupt as all power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. So we’ll just leave them out of this for now.

However, accepting money from publishers for things like advertising, doing Let’s Play gameplay videos with non-evaluative commentary meant to inform the masses shouldn’t really be criticized without first taking a look at the individual content. Additionally, there are sometimes terms given to what would otherwise be perfectly normal payment campaigns and instead turn into more of a gray area situation. One recent example of this was the Xbox ONE campaign in which YouTube channels were paid handsomely to provide footage of the games on Xbox ONE and videos about the console overall – yet no negative statements about the brand were allowed on videos that expected to receive this bonus incentive payment. Some major networks that were involved in this included Machinima (a massive network of YouTubers which openly admitted they took part in this, to a controversial response from the community).

But think about it for a minute. If you were offering to pay for videos to spread awareness of your product, would you pay for videos that bashed it too? I think not. And to those who claim that they shouldn’t be able to pay for videos at all, well that just seems rather stupid. This industry is a business that is practically ignored by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and therefore has virtually no regulations enforced from it. That’s why you’ll see websites like RealGamerNewz tell you at the bottom of each review just how many copies of a game we received to do the Review (as required by FTC regulations) but huge sites like IGN get away with not telling you anything about what they received for a review (which often includes money, tons of physical and digital copies, and swag such as branded clothing, keychains, USB keys, headsets, you name it. This is largely due to the fact that the video games industry is an emerging technology business and therefore a lot of legal stuff is hard to rationalize. In many cases the FTC regulations are outdated for a business so rapidly evolving thanks to technology.

This is only part of the story of course, but I figured rather than re-hashing the simple way of telling this story that other sites are doing – I decided to shed a little more light on this issue. It’s not so black and white as people would have you believe. In fact, there’s much more to this than just YouTubers, much more to this than just YouTube videos, and there are many unanswered questions this industry must face – like how long until the FTC actually enforces its regulations, and how many of its regulations need to be updated to actually make sense for the video games world? For now, take a minute to think about these things on a deeper level and if you’ve got a spare moment let us know what you think.

WWE x Super Smash Bros. Mashup is all Kinds of Freaky and Disturbing

For a long time now the ability to create your own WWE wrestler has been a staple in the WWE games. Not to be content with making their own generic wrestlers, for years fans have been creating all kinds of wacky characters, even those of other franchises. Case in point, this odd and disturbing video mash up for WWE 2K14, featuring some of the cast of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Prepare to never look at Pikachu and Pac Man the same way ever again…ever!

You can blame Youtuber madagascaran for this.
